Carpet, cork, designer flooring, linoleum, laminate, stone or tile: 6 ideas to help you choose the right one.
You can easily see the characteristics of all floor coverings for the layout of the children's room. You just need to know what you really want in the room.
1- Carpet: so soft for little ones
Carpet as a floor covering in the bedroom replaces many cushions or mattresses. Just lie down and relax. Carpet is extremely soft and super comfortable.
However, regular vacuuming is a must, as lint and dirt tend to stick to carpets rather than smooth floors.
2- Cork flooring for the children's bedroom
Cork not only closes bottle necks, the shredded and pressed bark of the cork oak also makes a good floor covering. After all, cork is a natural and healthy floor covering all the way through.
Because cork flooring is elastic, heavy furniture leaves pressure marks. Cork is therefore not extremely hard-wearing. However, it is still a real recommendation as a floor covering for the children's room: warm to the feet, elastic and quite durable.

4- Linoleum in the children's room: the ecological alternative
Linseed oil, resin, wood flour and limestone are the main ingredients of linoleum. With a colorful decor, the flooring almost slips into the design league of vinyl or laminate.
For the children's room, linoleum is well suited, but the floor covering is not particularly fresh and quite expensive.
5- Laminate: an alternative to cheap parquet
It is a hard veneer with a wood decor, laminated. The result looks a lot like a parquet floor and the difference is almost not even noticeable. Laminate is a practical and sturdy floor covering that looks great in a child's room.
Laminate is very durable, depending on the stress class (21 to 23), but sanding is unfortunately not possible.

If the floor has to be absolutely indestructible, it is worth looking at the tiles or stones for the children's room.
The great advantage of stone and tile as flooring in children's rooms is their resistance. Tile and stone can withstand a lot, but are perhaps a little too hard and fresh for the children's room. After all, it is also a matter of comfort. With a carpet, you can compensate for this.
When choosing flooring, keep in mind that the floor in the children's room should be resistant to most floor coverings in the house. And it may be smart not to follow a trend. What matters is the comfort of your little ones. Most parents do very well with natural flooring.
7- Parquet: Comfortable and resistant
Parquet can be the right choice, both classy and natural it is nature in its purest state. Depending on the hardness and tightness of the wood, parquet can also withstand the stresses and strains in the children's room. It is comfortable and pleasant to walk on barefoot. Parquet is beautiful in the children's room. The particularly hard wood, well waxed or lacquered, can easily support the weight of the child.
A high-quality parquet floor is an investment. A good oak floor costs 40 euros per square meter, but you can get a simple multilayer beech floor for only 20 euros.
